Modular homes are sectional prefabricated houses or buildings that are made of multiple sections assembled together to form full unit. The various sections that make up the complete home are called modules. This method of construction is referred to as modular construction. When in need of good modular homes Canada offers a good place to check out. Canada is home to several professional companies that specialize in producing and distributing these products to buyers in the whole of America and abroad.

Off-sites are usually used to construct sections that are linked to make the complete unit. After construction, they are moved to sites of use. Assembling of individual sections has to be done to make the complete unit. Modules can be bought all at once, or they can added over time one after the other.

Prefabricated sections may be lifted and placed on basement walls by the use of cranes. Various sections are placed onto the foundation of the building to produce a single building. There are several methods of placing the various modules. Some of these methods include end-to-end, stacking, and side-by-side. The various styles of placing the sections allows for achievement of various configurations and styles in the layout of the building.

Another common name used for modular houses is prefabricated home. Building standards followed in constructing stick built houses are also used in making prefabricated houses. The same materials are also used. Flat-bed trucks are used for the movement of the modular sections to sites of use because they do not have axles or frames. Depending on the proposed use, local building standards must also be maintained.

The uses of prefabricated homes are many and diverse, and may be temporary, permanent, or long-term. Some of the common uses they are put to include military and civilian housing, schools and classrooms, industrial facilities, and construction camps. They are more common in rural or remote areas. Such areas usually present problems in constructing conventional buildings. Other uses include use as sales and retail offices, cruise ship construction, fast food restaurants, churches, and health care facilities.

The construction of modular parts is done on assembly lines indoors. The construction of a module takes varied amounts of time, ranging from as little as ten days to as long as three months or more. Once the construction has been finished, the module is transported to the site of use and assembled using cranes. Depending on the size of the module, it may take hours or days to install.

The design stage is the most important phase in the construction process. Several practices are employed during this stage to ensure that assembly tolerances are controlled throughout assembly and manufacture. The design should be done in a way as to accommodate slack or misalignment in components. The designing makes use of several manufacturing control systems such as 3D printing and CAD.

There are several advantages that these structures present to both producers and users. Among these advantages are speed of construction, flexibility, eco-friendliness in the process of construction, indoor construction, and low waste. Another benefit of the structures is that they can be utilized in remote regions.
