The Balinese is a breed of domestic cat that has long hair and point coloration similar in style to that of Siamese. Its other name is purebred long-haired Siamese because it originated following a mutation of the Siamese breed. It is essentially a Siamese only that it has a silky coat that is medium in length and a plumed tail. For anyone who wants to buy Balinese kittens for sale, this information should be useful.

Siamese and Balinese show a lot of resemblance in all other respects. For instance, they both have wedge-shaped or triangular heads, large ears, blue eyes, and striking color points. Both has masculine body figures and same size. The resemblance comes from mutation of the Siamese breed to produce Balinese. Otherwise, the similarity is amazing with minor differences.

The name Balinese is not related in any way to the Indonesian island, Bali. The cat came up as a result of many interbreeding efforts between Siamese cats with the purpose of revealing the recessive long hair gene in Siamese. Initially, the breed was called long-haired Siamese, but the name was viewed as too long. Thus, it was changed to Balinese in reference to Balinese dancers. The evolution of the cat has led to two separate varieties based on physical type.

The characteristics of the coat include being silky, soft, and medium in length. However, there are observable differences in coat length among individuals. There is no fluffy undercoat that is usually found in other breeds with long hair. Eye color varies between violet and blue while the intensity of the eye color varies with the age and the diet the cat is fed on.

Kittens are born pure white or cream and start developing visible points in parts of their body that are colder gradually. These include paws, tail, ears, and face. By the time they reach the age of four weeks, the color is usually identifiable. Color of the coat tends to darken more with age. Those that live in regions with warm climate have lighter coats compared to those in colder regions.

Cat fanciers all over the world accept the cat in four major colors, seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac. Javanese is a classification for all other cats with different colors including, cream point, red, lynx point, and tortoiseshell. There is no relationship between the Indonesian island Java and the name Javanese.

Like Siamese its ancestor, this breed has been found to be very intelligent, social, and playful. Activities around it interest it a lot and it prefers to vocalize in low tones. Research has found that it is the most intelligent long-haired cat breed. Human company makes it very happy and it will move around its owner jovially when in the house.

Comparatively, the cat has been found to cause less trouble to individuals with allergies than other breeds. This is because the level of Fel d1 and Fel d4 they produce is lower. The hypoallergenic quality is under thorough study by clubs and breeders to determine if it exists.
